Meeting
teenagers “where they are”
Where will our high-school ministry take your teenagers? That depends on the
teen. Varsity is designed with all kinds of teens in mind. Our materials are
flexible enough to help you reach a broad spectrum of young people and disciple
them to a deeper maturity in Christ.
Like our junior-high program, Varsity offers three levels
of ministry:
The first level (Come See) is an outreach to unsaved youth.
The second level (Come Follow) helps new believers grow spiritually.
The third level (Come Serve) trains committed believers for leadership.
In addition, Varisty meetings take that same three-tiered
approach by offering something for everyone.
A feature event uses spirited games and activities to attract unsaved
teens to church and then make them feel at home. [Game Tri-angle, outside: 6:30 pm - 7:10 pm]
Group time communicates a single Bible truth that spiritually lost teenagers
can grasp and churched teens can grow from. [Classroom 202, upstairs: 7:15 pm - 8:30 pm]
Teens then return and are organized into small groups according to
their spiritual needs for a time of discipleship. [Classroom 211, upstairs: during 2nd service, Sunday 9:15 am - 9:45
am]
Like a year of Bible college …
Going through Awana from preschool through high school is like spending a year
in Bible college. The biblical instruction your young people will receive
is that good. After four years in our program, your teenagers will be armed
with the training they need to make a difference in the world for Christ.
In Varsity they will:
Learn and review up to 151 verses
Hear the gospel — and pass it on to others
Discover how to cultivate a lasting relationship with God
Build a biblical understanding of a host of theological
issues
Develop the knowledge and know-how to share and defend their
faith
Apply God’s Word to every area of their life
Can you say scholarships? An
added bonus to teens that progress through Awana is the opportunity
to earn college scholarships. A growing number of Christian colleges
are offering scholarships to students who have earned the Citation
and Meritorious Awards, two of the highest honors in Awana. These awards
are given to students who complete a specified number of handbooks
and manuals.
