John and Flávia Hwang

John was born in South Korea in 1972, and grew up in the U.S.A. since he was 6 months old. He placed his faith in Jesus as his Savior early in his childhood. Growing up, he always sensed a Divine purpose for His life. At the age of thirteen, God revealed to him His plan to use him to teach God's Word to others. Doors began to open; John began to teach…and he continues to teach today.

In the summer of 2002, God directed John to Brazil with the calling and vision of a church-planter. In 2003, God used him to plant Igreja Vivendo em Cristo in Curitiba. In 2005, he moved to Campo Mourão to become the director of the Calvary Chapel Bible College of Brazil and establish Calvary Chapel of Campo Mourão. In 2007, he returned to Curitiba to establish and serve as the pastor of Calvary Curitiba. In 2011, after 9 years in Brazil, God redirected him back to the U.S. (for the time being).

Family:
In May 2003, God brought Flávia into John's life. She was born in the state of São Paulo, and 8 years later, moved to Paraná. She came to Christ when she was 18 years old, and have been walking with Him ever since. Upon meeting John, a friendship was immediately formed. Friendship turned into courtship; courtship turned into engagement. Later, on June 12, 2004, John and Flávia were married, thus beginning a new season in their lives as husband and wife.

Today, John and Flávia have two kids: Daniel, born November 16, 2007, and Anna, born October 23, 2009.
