Szilard & Agota Markus
Our missionaries in Budapest, Hungary and administrator for Pastor Opean for 12 years.
Szilard and Agota have been with the Budapest church since it's beginning in 1994. Szilard is Greg's assistant/administrator. In the past two years he has begun a youth ministry in the church.
Before this he was the head of the children's ministry where Agota helped him until they began their family of three very lively boys: Beni (6), Tivi (3), & Sebi (2 months).
Szilard's duties at the church include everything from teaching to helping Greg get his tires changed!
Bill Osborn
One of our missionaries based in Budapest, Hungary. His ministry covers several countries, including many cities throughout Hungary.
Bill is serving as a missionary to Hungary. There are already a dozen Calvary Chapels in Hungary and Bill is traveling throughout Hungary and the surrounding countries, in order to see where God may be desiring to plant a new Calvary Chapel fellowship.
He is currently teaching a home group each Saturday night in Szombathely, a city of about 90,000, located in Western Hungary.
George and Icu Kolesnikov
Born in Yugoslavia, George and Icu are our missionaries in Kaposvar, Hungary. They grew up and were married at their church in Yugoslavia.
In the summer of 1991 George and Icu went for a month to Austria, to serve at the Calvary Chapel Conference Center in Millsatt. Two days after they left Yugoslavia, the war began and Icu's father called them and told them not to return to their country. In two months they became missionaries on staff and worked in many different works in Millsatt.
After waiting 15 years, they had a son, Oleg, who was born in 1996. He already knows Christ as his Lord, and is in the 1st grade.
Mike Payne
Mike, Marika David and James Payne are a family sojourning in this world. No country is home, but heaven, and they are working here on earth to see many go to that home in Heaven when our Lord Jesus Christ returns. Mike was born and raised in Sun Valley, South Africa, right at the tip of the continent. He moved with his parents to America in 1983 and lived in Colorado for 7 years before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. He spent 6 years with the Marines before God called him to Hungary as a worship leader. Here he met his lovely wife Marika who is from Romania.
Bruce Marlin
Bruce Marlin came to work in Budapest in July 2001 from Sydney, Australia. He originally came just for 12 months, but despite missing the beaches and football of home, was convinced to stay a little longer and join the Calvary staff.
His main role is to help Greg and the staff in organising the different ministries, and helping them to get things done. He's also involved with the Young Adults and Orphanage ministries.
Nemeth Janos and Family
Andras Szalai and Mrs. Vera Bratan
Andras Szalai is the director of Apologia Research Center (www.apologia.hu), an affiliate center of CFAR (www.thecenters.org), the only apologetics ministry in Hungary. The ministry focuses on teaching Christians (lay people and theologians) how to share the Gospel with non-Christians.
The team is of two couples. Andras is a former Buddhist, now researcher, counselor, and teacher of apologetics and systematic theology (also at CCBCE in Vajta). His wife, Andrea, has been a missionary for 12 years, they got married in 2005; she is administrator, organizer and counselor.
Janos and Vera Bratan have a teenage child, Rebeka; they are former Adventists, Vera is research assistant and designer, Janos is researcher and teacher (also in the Sunday School of CC Budapest).
Andras and Vera work full-time, Andrea and Janos have another job besides the ministry, but they hope one day they can all minister together.
