Chris and Sandi Wilk
Winter 2011 Newsletter (Requires Adobe Reader)

Chris and Sandi and their children minister in Tarnobrzeg, a small city in southern Poland. The Lord opened the door for them to start a church plant here in southern Poland in August, 2007. They are serving a group of believers, having Bible studies on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. They also have prayer meetings Sunday and Tuesday evenings. They are crying out to God night and day to do a work of His Spirit here in Poland.

Their ministry consists of 1. Teaching verse by verse through the Word and discipling the Christians to greater maturity, 2. Meeting and developing friendships with people, looking for every opportunity to introduce them to a relationship with Christ, 3. Living out the incarnational ministry of Christ among the Polish people. This would include having the children attend the public schools here, learning Polish. They have only friend with whom they speak English, so they are daily submerged in the Polish language. Also "Pastor Chris" has become the unofficial chaplain for a local soccer team, which has opened the door for many new friendships and constant inquiries about their faith. Chris also began going to Oswiecim, another city in south western Poland on a weekly basis. He is leading worship, teaching through the Word and spending time encouraging the small fellowship of believers there.

Their History:
Chris grew up in a religious home but early turned to rebellion and drug abuse. However, he joined the US Navy to get away from this destructive environment, being stationed in San Diego. He received Christ on New Years' Eve, 1985. He committed his life to learning God's ways and walking with Christ, teaching others of the amazing love of Christ. Chris and Sandi met in the summer of 1987, at an outreach of Calvary Chapel San Diego at Coronado beach there in San Diego.

Sandi grew up in a Christian home, but did not start growing deeper in her walk with Christ until her senior year of High School. She met a group of people at UC San Diego that were interested in foreign missions, which planted the first seeds in her heart of what God could do through her. After graduation, Chris and Sandi married in 1991 and lived in Norwalk, Connecticut for 9 years, serving in a fellowship there in many different capacities. There they had their first 3 children. In 1999, the Lord directed them to move back to San Diego and jump back into ministry at CCSD. Chris had the opportunity to get involved in leadership, teaching a home fellowship and serving in various ministries. When Sandi was pregnant with Liberty Ann, the Lord started reminding Chris about the calling He had placed on our lives for missions. Chris started pastoral training, and the Lord began putting the pieces of the puzzle together, directing us to ministry here in Eastern Europe. He began speaking to Chris' heart about moving to the land of his forefathers, bringing the light of the Gospel of Christ. After 2 or 3 years of much prayer and preparation, the Lord confirmed the call and they were sent out as missionaries to Poland. After living 2 years in Radom, the Lord directed them to move further south to Tarnobrzeg.

Prayer Requests:

  • For the Lord to open the eyes of the people here so they will lay down religion and traditions and receive the grace, mercy and salvation through Christ's redeeming death on the cross for us!
  • That the Lord would help us all to have mastery of the Polish language.
  • For the Lord to provide good, close friends for all of the children
  • That the Lord would pour out His Spirit upon this dry and spiritually dark country and add to the church daily those who are being saved.
  • That the Lord would help us to get Calvary Chapel registered here in Poland.
  • For the Lord to raise up a people, hungry and thirsty for their God, a people who love one another and are passionately in love with their God and Savior Jesus Christ!
