Meet the Pastors
Chris Shaddix
Chris
was born and raised primarily in Southern California by his
parents Tony & Juda Shaddix. Both of Chris’ parents
later remarried; he has five brothers – Calvin, Jason,
Ryan and Mike and one sister named Shelly. His step-mom’s
name is Jean and his step-dad’s name is Earl. Chris
grew up mostly in Orange County, but moved around a bit and
also spent a lot of time in Diamond Bar, Corona, Riverside,
and Mohave Valley, AZ.
Chris received Jesus into his life when he was about 9
years old in 1987 at his mom’s church. He spent much time after
this asking questions and trying to read the Bible and understand
more about God. Although he had received Christ into his heart,
Chris did not know what it meant to make Jesus Lord of his
life. The summer of 1994 before his sophomore year of high
school, Chris began to attend Harvest Christian Fellowship
in Riverside with some friends. They ended up going to summer
camp with the HS group, and there he truly learned what it
means to make Jesus Lord of your life, and he did. Chris stayed
in California attended Norte Vista High School in Riverside;
this is where he would meet his future wife, Adessa.
Chris graduated High School in 1997 and the following July
he left for Navy boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois. For
the next four years, the Navy would be his mission field;
this
is where God had called and led him for this time of his
life. Out of boot camp Chris was stationed on a ship in San
Diego
and he began attending Calvary Chapel San Diego in November
of 1997. In 1999 Adessa and Chris were married, and they
moved into an apartment and began their life together in
San Diego.
When Chris was 16 years old, he knew that he was called
to be a pastor, but a lot had happened in his life between
16
to 22 years old, and by this point he thought he had missed
out or lost his calling in the body of Christ. There came
a breaking point in his walk and life around May 2001: he
was
broken and God came in with His overwhelming grace and picked
him up, brushed him off, and renewed him in His strength.
As Chris set his heart to seek Him through worship, prayer,
and
the studying of His word, he sensed His Holy Spirit come
upon him and empowered him. God opened a door, and Chris
began working
with the HS Ministry as a counselor shortly after that. Chris
began working for the church in January 2002 as a computer
technician and taking on more responsibility with the youth
ministry, and later that year in August he became the HS
Pastor as Pastor Bill Osborn was preparing to leave as a
missionary
to Budapest, Hungary.
Please pray that the Lord would continue to lead Chris and
his wife in ministering to the youth. They desire to see God
move radically upon this generation and to see revival-revolution
that would spread across our land in turning peoples hearts
to God. They have no children yet, so please pray that the
Lord would bless them in this area
as well :-).
"Behold, I make a covenant. Before all your
people I will do marvels such as have not been done in all
the earth, nor in any nation; and all the people among whom
you are shall see the work of the LORD. For it is an awesome
thing that I will do with you." - Exodus
34:10
