Discipleship
Goal
1) As Christians, our goal is to become Disciples of Christ,
by learning and living
by God’s word –
Isaiah 50:4-5.
“The Sovereign LORD has given Me
His words
of wisdom,
so that I know what to say to all these weary ones. Morning by
morning
He wakens
Me and opens my understanding to
His will.
5 The Sovereign LORD
has spoken to
Me, and I have listened. I
do not rebel or turn away”.
(New Living Translation)
2)
And to be obedient to Christ
by making disciples (teaching others how to learn
and live
by the word of God) –
Matthew
28:18-20.
“And Jesus came and
spoke to them, saying, ‘All
authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
19 Go
therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them
in the name
of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to
observe
all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age.’ Amen.” (NKJV)
3)
We will accomplish this
goal as you meet with your counselor and/or small group
on
a weekly basis. This program has been designed
to teach you about God, to
help you develop a solid relationship
with Him, and to build lasting relationships
with others.
You may continue discipleship with your counselor and/or small
group for the entire duration of your time in the Jr. High Fellowship.
Below is the plan we have prepared as you continue in discipleship:
Part One: Biblical
Principles for a Strong Foundation (9 weeks) – Through
8 lessons, you will learn the foundational principles of our
Christian Faith. You’ll cover everything from who is
Jesus?
And The Holy Spirit to Spiritual Warfare and End
Times. Click here to learn more.
Part Two: Discipleship:
The Next Step in Following Jesus (8 weeks) – Here
you will learn:
1) What it means to be a disciple of Christ, 2) How
to become a disciple of Christ, and
3) How to disciple others in Christ. Click here
to learn more.
Part Three: Christian
Leadership Training (Only for 8th graders invited by Sammy Sandino) –- You might not feel ready to
teach and disciple one of your friends, but we can hook you up
with a 6th grader that you can minister to. You won’t be
alone; your counselor will be available, teaching you how to
be a leader to that younger brother/sister in the Lord.
Meetings
Once you have received the materials for each session, you will
complete each lesson, meet once a week with your group at a
designated time to review the worksheets, discuss the chapters,
pray, and fellowship.
At the start of each session, your counselor will inform you
of the start and finish dates for that session.
