Questions Asked By Students

Topic:  FRIENDS

DoEs the Bible say that I can’t be friends with people of other religions?

In Amos we see the same Question is it possible to walk together with some one if you don’t agree with them?

· Amos 3:3  Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?

I think the answer is clear if you are not going in the same direction I think it’s going to be impossible for you to walk together.  Your good friends should be those People you agree with about important things Like God and the Bible.  Casual friends or people you know in school should be all kinds of people so you can be an example to them of the truth. We see this in Jesus’ life he hung out with the Disciples (they were His good friends). But he also reached out to the lost and confused to help them learn about God.

· Luke 5:30-32  And their scribes and the Pharisees complained against His disciples, saying, "Why do You eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?" 31 Jesus answered and said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."

You should not hang out (be good friends) with people that you don’t agree with about the Bible and God, because what will happen is that you will give in and begin to walk with them rather than with God. Remember the reason why you as a Christina (like Christ) are spending time with the Lost should be  because you want to help them get close to the Lord.  But if they begin to take you with them away from the Lord, then it’s time to cut off the friendship.

· 2 Corinthinas 6:14-16  Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them

And walk among them.

I will be their God,

And they shall be My people.”

· 1 Corinthians 15:33  Do not be deceived: "Evil company corrupts good habits."

Friendship with the world in this James passage is talking about the worldly or un-godly system of the world.  You should not walk in this kind of system if you want to walk with God. Often our friendships can influence which way we go. Closer to the Lord or closer to this un-godly world. This is the difference form having your heart set on the things of God or having your heart set on the temporary things of this of this world

· James 4:4  Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Your good friends should be those that you can agree on when it comes to the important things of life, but make sure that you are willing and able to share the truth of Jesus with those from other religions that don’t believe in the true and living God. Also share the reality of God with those that don’t believe God is real. Always making sure that you are not sucked into believing their lie.
