The Bible
Who wrote the Bible?
The Bible was God inspired and written by the hands of men. The
name Bible = Greek word for “BOOK”
The Bible was inspired by God:
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God,
and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete,
thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Matthew 22:31-32
But concerning the resurrection of the dead, have
you not read what was spoken to you by God,
saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob'? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."
2 Peter 1:21
for prophecy never came by the will of man,
but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
The Bible was written by:
The Ten Commandments were written by the hand of God. After that,
God used the hands and pens of godly men to bring His Word.
All 66 books of the Bible were written by over 40 different men from
all walks of life:
Moses –a political leader trained in the universities of Egypt
Peter – a fisherman
Amos – a herdsman
Joshua – military leader
Luke – a doctor
Solomon – a king
The Bible was written in 3 different continents and in 3 different
languages. Yet it is without error from Genesis to Revelation and
it all fits together like a puzzle.
Continents - Asia/ Africa/ Europe.
Languages – Hebrew/ Aramaic/ Greek.
The Bible was protected by:
The Bible was written in a span of over 1,500 years and was
protected by God
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away,
but My words will by no means pass away.
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers, the flower fades,
but the word of our God stands forever."
The Bible was protected by Jewish scribes
The Masorites
were a group of men committed to the copying of the Bible on
papyrus. They took their job very seriously and kept very strong
rules. The quality of their work was proven when archeologists
discovered the Dead Sea scrolls. Archeologists compared the oldest
copy (from AD900), with the ones taken from the Dead Sea (discovered
in 1947), and discovered that they were identical.
What the Bible is about:
The general theme of the Bible is of God’s loving plan to save and
redeem sinful humanity through the perfect work of His Son, Jesus
Christ.

Is the Bible Real?
The
Bible is real. (It’s really true and truly real in everything it
says.)
How do you know that George Washington was the first President of
the United States? Well, the same thinking that proves to you that
George Washington was real will also prove that the Bible is real.
The
Bible and Archeology
The second oldest record of the Bible:
Starting in AD 900 a group of Jewish scribes called the Masoretes
took on the job of copying the
Bible onto fresh papyrus (because papyrus deteriorates pretty fast).
The oldest record of the Bible:
This record is more than 1000 years older than the second oldest
record by the Masoretes. When it was found in 1947 in Qumran Cave 1
near the Dead Sea, archeologists examined it, finding it to be
identical in every way except for some runoffs of the ink and some
smudges.
The Bible and Science
Everything that the Bible talks about has been proven to be real and
true.
The Bible is the only book of ancient times that taught that the
world was round. The Bible was main thing that motivated Christopher
Columbus to sail across the sea. Everyone believed that the world
was flat but he decided to believe the Bible and prove them wrong.
Isaiah 40:22
It is He who sits above the circle of the earth,
Proverbs 8:27
When He prepared the heavens, I was there, When He drew a circle
on the face of the deep...
The
Bible says that God made man out of earth dust. (Modern science
tells us that the same 17 elements found in common dirt make up
our bodies. When we die, our bodies turn back into dirt.)
The Bible mentions that all the rivers lead to the sea and then
return to the mountains. (The water cycle was discovered by a man
reading his Bible.)
Ecclesiastes
1:7
All the rivers run into the sea, yet the sea is not full; to the
place from which the rivers come, there they return again.
The Bible and Reality
The Bible has been found to be true in every area that is provable.
So then, we can be sure that it is true on those things that we
can’t prove: spiritual and supernatural things.
For example: If I gave
you a handmade map to go to Big Bear CA, with landmarks and
freeways on it, you would know it was true only after you put it
to the test. (You would check to see if the first few things on
the map really came up as indicated, then you could trust the
map the rest of the way or until it proved itself wrong.)
The Bible is the only book in all of history that claims to be
perfect in its original. Because of that, some people have
tried to prove it wrong. Every man that has ever looked at the
evidence
to prove the
Bible false has ended up a Bible believer, teaching that the
Bible is true and without mistakes.
